SaskTel customer Molly Schikosky is an artist based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan who works as a photographer, videographer, and creative director. We had the privilege of joining Molly for an afternoon spent at Remai Modern to capture and experience her creative process as she photographed the lookbook for the gallery’s annual art party, “LUGO Light.”

“I love that I get to combine so many things I’m passionate about - people, art, fashion, community, visual imagery, storytelling, emotion, and connection.”

While observing Molly in her element, we were peppered with examples of her innovation and spontaneous approach to photographing the models which involved utilizing leaf blowers and avant garde poses.

During our time with her, it became clear that Molly’s approach to her business is very meaningful to her. “My love for people and our stories is at the core of my work. I strive to capture the essence of who you are, so when someone expresses feeling seen and understood, it’s really special” says Molly.

“I aim to infuse elements of joy into my shoots and days on set. I enjoy collaborating with individuals who are dedicated to their craft but also embrace the opportunity to have fun and create meaningful art together. It’s incredibly rewarding to start with an idea and bring it to life. That collaborative process - seeing how everyone's minds work, the grittiness of figuring things along the way, the 'ah-ha' moments when things click into place, and the fulfillment of releasing something into the world that has been impacted by each person in unique ways—it's a beautiful experience.”

Like our community at SaskTel, Molly values finding connection in her work and with her clients. “Photography allows me to connect with people in a myriad of ways that I’m so grateful for. Some of my now closest friends are people I’ve worked with or collaborated with over the years. When you meet people tapped into a similar creative energy, it feels as if you can bypass the 'getting to know you' stage and dive right into honestly witnessing someone, thereby celebrating what makes them unique. Being invited into people’s stories, projects, homes, families, relationships, and creative dreams — it’s all so special and such a joy for me.”

“Through my creative endeavours, I hope to highlight the power of community, the beauty that exists in the world, and for people to share in the experience of honest storytelling through various mediums.”

“Moving through the world as a woman is central to me as a creative. Creating an outlet for our narratives to be expressed is essential to who I am, and who I am becoming” says Molly.
