“We love to keep our traditions alive for our future generations by celebrating Navratri in Saskatchewan. The festival acts as a source of enjoyment, making memories with our near and dear loved ones and keeping the traditions alive,” says one of the event volunteers Manish Shamnani.

Manish mentioned whether you are from India, Mexico or Europe, we all love home. “We are thankful to all of the community members, volunteers, organizers, and sponsors who worked tirelessly to bring our home to Saskatchewan.”
“Coming to Canada and living in Saskatchewan is a dream.”
Guests will see a flavor of Gujarat in Saskatoon featuring the beautiful Navratri traditional dresses called Chaniya Choli for women and different forms of Kurtas and pants for men. “Communities of over 1,000 people come together to dance in unison during Garba where the crowd moves together in a synchronized circular movement,” says Manish.
“It is a completely different and vibrant experience that you don’t want to miss.”
Manish says this event is one of the biggest events in Saskatoon. "It could not be possible without support of sponsors like SaskTel, volunteers and the wonderful crowd who come out to celebrate with us.”
“SaskTel's initiative to support non-profit organizations like the Gujarati Cultural Society of Saskatoon allows us to showcase our culture and our values.”
Manish says, “we encourage everyone to feel free to participate in our dance (Garba) and allow yourself to be free from your everyday stress and worries.”
There are events happening on September 29, 30 and October 20 at Prairieland Park featuring enchanting rhythms and electrifying beats of Meet Jain and energetic music from DJ Parth. The full schedule and ticket purchases can be found on the Gujarati Cultural Society of Saskatchewan website.
